Private Guitar Lessons in Berlin

The Dolce Music Institute offers private guitar lessons for adults in Berlin.

In one-to-one lessons, you receive personalised guidance tailored to your previous experience, musical interests and pace of learning.

Perhaps you would like to accompany yourself on the guitar while singing, play your first melodies or improve your technique.

If you are returning to the guitar after a longer break, you can also build on your existing knowledge and gradually regain confidence.

At our teaching studio in Berlin, you and your teacher will discuss what you would like to achieve.

Your teacher will then select suitable exercises and pieces to help you develop your skills in a focused way.

Develop Your Technique and Gain Confidence

To begin with, you will learn how to tune your guitar, adopt a comfortable playing position and pluck or strum the strings with control.

Your teacher will show you how to position your fingers and produce clear notes with as little effort as possible.

Your first chords and simple melodies allow you to hear the fundamentals straight away.

As you progress, you will practise coordinating both hands and maintaining a steady rhythm.

If a chord change is hesitant or a string is accidentally muted, you and your teacher can take a closer look at the movement involved.

Small adjustments to your finger position or practising more slowly are often enough to help you play a passage with greater confidence.

As you gain experience, more challenging tasks can be introduced.

These might include barré chords, different strumming and picking patterns, or switching between melody and accompaniment.

Your teacher will select exercises that provide meaningful support for your work on each piece.

Play Music That Brings You Joy

Your musical preferences are an integral part of your private guitar lessons.

You can suggest pieces of your own or ask your teacher for advice on choosing suitable music.

A familiar song, for example, can help you become more fluent in changing chords.

An instrumental piece offers an opportunity to work on melodic phrasing, tone and musical expression.

Depending on your experience and goals, you can explore the following areas in greater depth:

  • clean chord shapes and fluent chord changes
  • rhythmically secure strumming and picking patterns
  • finger coordination and controlled movement
  • reading standard notation, tablature and chord symbols
  • song accompaniment
  • dynamics, phrasing and tone production
  • preparing to play music with others

Your teacher will also help you organise your practice at home clearly and effectively.

You will receive specific guidance on which passages to repeat and what to focus on as you practise.

This allows you to use even shorter practice sessions effectively and become more aware of your progress.

Questions and revision are as much a part of the lessons as discovering new music.

The Dolce Music Institute welcomes adults who would like to learn the guitar or continue developing their playing with personalised support.

Your private guitar lesson in Berlin takes place once a week at a regular time in our teaching studio.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss your musical aspirations and find out more about one-to-one lessons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, absolutely! The Dolce Music Institute warmly welcomes you, even if you are a complete beginner. Our courses are open to any adult who wishes to learn a musical instrument, regardless of previous experience. Learning to read music will be an integral part of your learning process.

Your concerns in this regard are completely understandable.

It is not easy to become a student as an adult when there is the fear of being too old, of not meeting expectations, of making mistakes, and of being judged.

Rest assured, none of this is true. There is no age limit to learning a musical instrument; our brains are capable of acquiring new skills throughout our entire lives.

As an adult, you have already developed three essential skills: discipline, focus, and motivation.

You will be amazed at how quickly you progress!

Our teachers are also highly skilled at adapting to your learning style and will help you succeed, regardless of your current perceived talent.

They take your needs, wishes, and personality into account; they are more of a coach than just an ordinary teacher.

You will be surprised by the speed of your progress and the joy you will experience while learning.

So let go of the idea of talent. Simply give it a try, and you will be amazed at how talented you truly are!

An instrument to practise on will be essential.

However, you need not worry, as we can assist you in finding a suitable instrument.

We offer instruments for monthly rental, and if we do not have your specific instrument in stock, we will be happy to help you find a suitable shop where you can purchase one.

You may attend your very first lesson without an instrument.

From the second lesson onwards, however, we recommend having an instrument for private practice.

We can guide and support you in this regard at any time.

Of course, because learning a musical instrument for pleasure is the main mission of the Dolce Music Institute in Berlin.

It is recommended to practise regularly between lessons. Our music teachers provide you with essential guidance for your learning, but the frequency and quality of your practice are crucial to your progress. Your teacher will offer you individual advice and support to ensure that you make the most of your practice time.

That depends on your level. As a beginner, you can start with short daily practice sessions of 15 minutes and quickly increase to 30 minutes, as you will need time to review, practise, and refine what you have learnt in your lessons.

Yes, we offer this option if you are interested. Your teacher will support you in selecting the appropriate examinations or competitions and in preparing for them.

This question cannot be answered in general terms, as your progress depends on your individual abilities, motivation, goals, and the time you have available for practice. However, our experience shows that after just a few lessons you should already be able to play simple pieces for your own enjoyment and fulfilment.

Our courses are designed for ongoing continuation to ensure consistent learning and progress. After a minimum period of two months (8 lessons), however, you have the option to end your course with four teaching weeks’ notice. You may submit this cancellation at any time after the initial two months. Until a cancellation is submitted, the courses will continue seamlessly.

Of course. When you register, you will be asked to indicate your current level of knowledge so that we can assign you the teacher who best matches your expectations.

Naturally, one of our teachers will be delighted to accompany you on your new musical journey.

As we do not follow a set syllabus but prefer adapting to each in order to provide you with the most suitable music education possible, the content of our music lessons depends on your current abilities, what you wish to achieve, and the style of music you are studying.

Our aim is to accommodate everyone, and we understand that certain professions require flexibility. We are committed to finding a suitable solution for you. Please let us know about your variable schedule when registering, and we will do our utmost to make the necessary adjustments. Kindly note, however, that specific scheduling requests may incur additional costs.
